William E. Surrena 1931-2024

He was born June 6, 1931, in Warren, the son of the late Simeon Edward and Marguerite Lytle Surrena.

William retired as an assembler at General Motors Lordstown after 30 years of service.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from April 24, 1952, until March 18, 1954, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He enjoyed gardening vegetables, walking at the park and the mall, a good dessert and tinkering in his garage.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Frank) Monachino of Twinsburg; daughter-in-law, Sherry Surrena of Leavittsburg; grandchildren, Sarah (Nick) Popczun of Dublin, Virginia, Tony Surrena of Niles, Frank (Deanna) Monachino of Twinsburg and Ashley Monachino, also of Twinsburg; great-grandchildren, Theodore and Jane Popczun of Dublin, Virginia, and Frankie Monachino of Twinsburg.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Viola Salway Surrena; son, Allen Surrena; and sisters, Juanita Surrena and Marion Stevens.

Services will be at 11 a.m., with calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Pine Knoll Cemetery, Warren Township.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
