Rellajeanne W. Cook 1942-2024
SOUTHINGTON — Rellajeanne W. Cook, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born in Warren, on Nov. 2, 1942, she was the daughter of Paul L. Walker and Mildred Mathews Walker, who both preceded her in death.
Rellajeanne was a graduate of Chalker High School, Class of 1960, and later earned her associate degree from Kent State Trumbull. She served as clerk of courts in Newton Falls and worked as treasurer in the Trumbull County Schools, retiring from Newton Falls Local Schools as school treasurer.
She was an active member of the quilting community, participating in the Crazy Quilters and Village Piece Makers Quilt Club, and attending many quilting conferences, including an annual trip to Ripley, W.Va. Some of her quilts were featured in quilting publications.
Rellajeanne was a 4-H sewing advisor and leader of the Southington Merry Thimbles for 22 years, sharing her knowledge and skills with young sewers. She also enjoyed hosting family and friends at their pool during the summers.
Rellajeanne married Ray A. Cook on April 10, 1960; and they spent 64 amazing years together.
She is survived by her husband, Ray, and their children, Randy (Cathy) Cook of Palm Coast, Florida, Robin (Rob) Gilanyi of Southington and Raeanne (Brian) Abramovich, also of Southington; her five adored grandchildren, Justin Gilanyi of Los Angeles, California, Emily Gilanyi of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sam Cook of Columbus, Joe Abramovich of Southington and Sarah Abramovich, also of Southington. She is also survived by her siblings, Dawn (Dana) Srbinovich and Glenn (Jackie) Walker; brother-in-law, Tom; sisters-in-law, Agnes (Bill), Janet, Doreen and Nancy, along with many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Walker Jr.
Rellajeanne’s kindness, creativity and love for her family will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through the beautiful quilts she crafted, the friendships she cherished and the lives she touched.
A service will not be held at this time.
Carl W. Hall Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
