Paul E. Bowser Sr. 1929-2024

Together again

LORDSTOWN — Paul E. Bowser Sr., 95, passed away peacefully into eternal rest, Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Newton Falls.

He was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Kittanning, Pa., the son of the late Clair Bowser and Twila Hetrick Bowser.

Paul married the love of his life, Delores M. Toy, on Valentine’s Day 1951, and they enjoyed 70 years of marriage together until her death, Jan. 17, 2022.

He had lived in Lordstown since 1973, formerly of Newton Falls and Western Pennsylvania. Paul served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He worked at the General Motors Lordstown Plant for 25 years before retiring in 1992 and was a member of UAW Local #1112.

Paul enjoyed a long life of golfing, woodworking, watching baseball, mowing his yard, birdwatching and visiting with family, and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores; daughter, Cindy Noland; two brothers, Donald and Harold “Buck” Bowser; and three sisters, Shirley Bowser, Esther Van Horn and Phyllis Cook.

Paul was a devoted father and grandfather and is survived by two sons, Paul Jr. and Ginni Bowser of Worthington, Pa., and Jerry and Diane Bowser of Newton Falls; sister, Myrna and Bill Whitlinger of Apollo, Pa.; brother, Larry “Duke” and Jenny Bowser of Worthington, Pa.; grandson, Zach Lewis and Emily Adgate Lewis of Lordstown; and beloved great-granddaughter, Allegra Lewis of Lordstown.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at James Funeral Home, Newton Falls, with Pastor Joan Purnell officiating.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Cremation will follow the service. He will be laid to rest at a later date beside his wife, Delores, at Center Hill Cemetery in Kittanning, Pa.
