Michael A. O’Donnell 1961-2024

HOWLAND — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Albert O’Donnell, beloved husband, devoted father and cherished friend on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at the age of 63, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mike was born March 7, 1961, the son of Martha and Charles O’Donnell; and brother of Charles “Chuck,” Cherri, Bill and Joan.

Mike graduated from Liberty High School, Geneva College and Youngstown State University. He worked for many years at Trumbull Memorial Hospital as a cytotechnologist. Mike was deeply passionate about wrestling and found immense joy in coaching and mentoring young wrestlers in the Liberty and Brookfield wrestling programs.

Outside of wrestling, Mike loved spending time in the great outdoors. He built a beautiful log cabin in Hartford where he took great pride in the land around him. Whether tending to his garden, hiking with his dogs in the woods or building a campfire, Mike cherished spending time outdoors on his property.

His love for nature was something he shared with his family and friends through hiking and camping, whether nearby at his beloved Cook Forest or further afield in one of the country’s National Parks.

Mike’s greatest joy, however, was his family.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Wendy, and a proud father of his four children, Chelsea (37), Darby (34) and twins, Aidan (16) and Sullivan (16). Mike also loved spending time with Darby and her husband, Yanni, and two children, Dion (4) and Leo (2).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to Aidan and Sullivan’s college education. Donations may be made at Ugift529.com/ by entering student numbers, S88-53C (Aidan) and J32-M5V (Sullivan).

Mike’s legacy of love and strength will live on through all those whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Instead of a funeral or calling hours, a celebration of his life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Hartford Hill Winery, 3864 Bushnell-Campbell Road, Fowler, where friends can gather to honor his memory and share stories of the remarkable man he was.
