Mary Jane Hodge Hileman 1946-2024
NILES — Mary Jane Hodge Hileman, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, Oct. 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1946, in Warren, the daughter of William and Beulah Mechling Yurkus Jr.
A 1964 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, she was a former member of Niles Faith Baptist Church and a current member of North Mar Church in Warren. At both churches, she was active in her faith and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, aide in the nursery, office secretary, outreach ministries and Bible studies.
For many years she was a seamstress with her lifetime friend, Regina Vaughn, at Jeannie’s Custom Drapery in Niles.
She had trust in her faith. A joyful and generous person, Mary Jane was concerned about blessing others. She loved to cook for everyone, have large family gatherings and venturing on trips with “her girls” Lisa, Nancy, Jill and Vanessa. She enjoyed traveling to the ocean and spending vacations near the beach. Most of all she cherished her family and the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary Jane touched everyone’s heart that she met, and is survived by her husband, Larry Hileman, whom she married on May 17, 2018; four children, Marcella “Marcie” (Brian) Pritchard of Canfield, Brian (Carol) Hodge of Niles, Carol (Stephen) Hrosar of Niles and Kristopher (Katie) Hodge of Mineral Ridge; stepson, Rob (Logan) Hileman of Cortland; 12 grandchildren, Ethan, Henry, Marcella (Jeremy) Hinzman, Crystal (Nick) Walters, Renee (Brett) Fulks, Bryan (Violette) Hodge, Francis, Kristopher, Brennen, Audrey, James and Meredith; six great-grandchildren, Landon, Asher, Tanner, Sadie, Mila and Levi; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Brendal K. Hodge, whom she married on June 24, 1967, and who passed away on Jan. 24, 2011; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bob Skerratt; nephew, Rick Skerratt; niece and nephew, Vanessa and David Germeroth.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at North Mar Church where family and friends may call an hour prior to the service. Rev. Myron Daum will officiate.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
