NEWTON FALLS — Dennis L. King, 73, born Feb. 17, 1951, a son of the late Wilbur and Arlene Fenn King of Newton Falls, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, at Ohio Living Lake Vista.
Dennis graduated as a salutatorian of Newton Falls High School in 1969, where he was a member of Boys State. He went on to Hiram College, where he received his bachelor’s degree and then to Akron State University, for his master’s degree. After he graduated, he began teaching at Howland Middle School, before he moved to the high school, where he taught math until his retirement in 1999. During his time at Howland High School, he coached basketball alongside his good friend, Donald Andres.
In his free time, he played softball for many years and every weekend, he worked tirelessly at his father’s sawmill in Newton Falls. Diagnosed with polio at age 4, he never let it stop him from doing what he wanted or needed to do, even though, at times, it was painful and hard.
Dennis will be remembered by his friends and family as a man of great integrity, perseverance, strength, loyalty and resilience, as well as a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica King of Cortland; stepson, Mark Krok of Melbourne, Florida; brother, Gary King (Carla) of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as his nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved cousins, Paul and Lance King, as well as countless friends.
A memorial will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at Itam 29, located at 625 High St., Warren.
