BROOKFIELD — Dorothy Irene Lattyak Evankovich passed from this world to the next on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 94 years of age, following a long illness.
She was born May 22, 1929, to John F. Lattyak and Genevieve “Ethel” Kowalsky Lattyak.
She grew up in Masury and attended Brookfield schools.
While living in Masury, Dorothy met and married the love of her life, Daniel J. Evankovich, who owned and operated Dan’s Auto Body and Frame Shop, after he completed his military service in World War II.
Dorothy and Dan moved from Masury to Brookfield in 1958, where they raised a family and enjoyed the companionship of many friends and neighbors. In those younger days, Dorothy and Dan enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad on their vacations. Dorothy loved to attend musicals and musical performances of all kinds, ranging from famous singers in Las Vegas to the Kenley Players in Warren. She enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family and gardening in her yard. In later years, she delighted in her grandchildren and her great-grandchild, visiting them often and attending their school and extracurricular activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan; and her sister, Kathryn Hagarman.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Humrichouser (John) of Twinsburg and Audrey Tucker (Larry) of Akron; her grandchildren, Amy Humrichouser (Vasilios “Bill” Pozios) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Kelly Humrichouser (Kelly Matimoe) of Cleveland Heights and Daniel Tucker of South Bend, Indiana; by her great-grandson, Konstantinos “Gus” Pozios of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and by her brother-in-law, Carl Hagarman of Masury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Vienna. Calling hours will take place one hour before the Mass Friday, at the church.
Her remains will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
