Donald L. Beach 1938-2023

BOARDMAN — Donald Lawrence Beach, 85, passed early Monday morning, Dec. 18, 2023, at home.

Donald was born Feb. 8, 1938, at his family home in Niles. He was the son of the late Donald Leroy Beach and Nellie Mae Beach.

After graduating in 1956 from Niles McKinley High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon being honorably discharged, he continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Don’s vision for his career soon came into focus and he became the owner of eight Vision Centers throughout Mahoning and Trumbull counties. After retiring, he worked for Mr. Warren Williamson III as Mr. Williamson’s property manager for 20-plus years.

Mr. Beach was a generous supporter and had a heart for the Youngstown State University Penguin Club. Don was a NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed motorcycle riding. He was also a Mason and a Grotto clown.

Donald leaves his wife, Barbara Beach; a son, James Beach of Youngstown; a daughter, Jennifer Beach of Wesley Chapel, Florida; son-in-law, Mike Weir; and grandson, Tanner Weir of Fort Pierce, Florida. To complete Don’s family are Victoria Choppa of New Mexico; James and Kristin Murray, and their three daughters, Sarah, Eliza and Camille Murray; Paul Choppa and Adrian Choppa, all residing in California; a sister, Ruth Janet White; a niece, Brenda Nashette; and a nephew, Glenis “Jim” White, all of Niles.

Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Weir of Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Beach could do many things; he was a “jack-of-many-trades.” He was always there to lend a hand in helping others and he had an amazing gift of humor.

Don’s body was donated to Northeast Ohio College of Medicine in Rootstown.

Our family wishes to thank Hospice of the Valley for their amazing care. We would appreciate any donations to go to Hospice of the Valley.
