Randall J. Hake 1950-2023
HOWLAND — Randall Joseph Hake, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, June 21, 2023, at the Shepherd of the Valley care facility in Liberty, following long illness with cancer.
He was born in Warren on Aug. 1, 1950, the son of Randall L. and JoAnn Ring Hake.
He was a 1968 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Youngstown State University.
Following college, Randy began his career in real estate with the Cafaro Company. In 1983, Randy and a partner started Dezcon, Inc., which specialized in the construction of commercial and multi-family projects throughout Ohio. Then, in 1989, Randy founded Hake Construction, which was a general contractor and site development company. Hake Construction was selected to perform several notable projects through northeast Ohio, including work for Target, Walmart and multiple tenant improvement jobs located within the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. Most recently, Randy served as the vice president of commercial development for Cedarwood Development of Akron for the past 18 years.
Randy was a lifetime member of St. Stephen Church in Niles. He enjoyed gardening, golfing and spending the winters in Phoenix. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
Randy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Wishka Hake, whom he married July 24, 1976; son, Christopher (Leslie) Hake of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Jaxson and Kennedy Hake; his six siblings, Connie E. Hake of Niles, Paul C. (Rhonda) Hake of Niles, Christopher J. Hake of Howland, Mary Jo (Ernest) Bokone of Fort Wayne, Ind., Charles M. (Deborah) Hake of Farmdale and Kevin J. (Gina) Hake of Liberty; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Tammie Hake.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Stephen Church.
