Joyce A. Balogh 1945-2023
ADA — Joyce A. Balogh, 78, of Ada, passed away at 2:20 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at her residence in Ada, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 22, 1945, in Orwell, to the late Milton and Marjorie King Phillips Sr.
On Aug. 17, 1963, Joyce married Dale Kuhn, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1998. She later married Raymond Balogh on Nov. 25, 2000, and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2018.
Joyce is survived by her six children, Michelle Kuldas of Dublin, Theresa (Bill) Brennan of Helena, Jennifer (Ray) Hadley of Ada, Sharon (Erik) Strite of Medford, Ore., Linda (James) Tenney of Fayette, Iowa, and Adam Blackburn of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two foster children, Roger Neff and Terry Phillips; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mavis Free of Mecca.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jon Kuhn, and three brothers, Milton Phillips Jr., Darrell Phillips and Merle Phillips.
Joyce was a member of the Ada Family Center and a former member of the Greene Community Church. She was a former volunteer firefighter and EMT for Greene Township in Trumbull County.
Joyce was an avid gardener and quilter.
It was her wish to be cremated.
A celebration of life will begin Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Union Chapel Missionary Church, 4869 Ada Road, Lima, OH 45801.
Family and friends are welcome to gather from 2 to 4 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 4 p.m. Pastor Ray Hadley will officiate.
