Michael B. Fenstermaker 1993-2023

WARREN — Michael Brent Fenstermaker passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, after a valiant fight with a short-term illness in the Cleveland Clinic ICU, with his mother by his side.

Michael was born May 6, 1993, in Warren.

Memories of Michael will be cherished by his mother, Rose Fenstermaker; sister, Regina Laudieri (Chris); and nephew, Mario and niece, Madison Laudieri. He had a special bond with his two cats, Phat Cat and Betty Ann, lovingly called “the girls.”

He was a much-loved son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle and always had a compassion for helping people. Michael had a beautiful smile and loved to crack jokes and could be quite the prankster. He had a passion for cooking. Whether it was a Dutch oven recipe over a fire pit that he learned from Boy Scouts or creating all kinds of new recipes for friends and family, he just enjoyed cooking, especially with the fresh vegetables and herbs he grew in his garden. He had a love for the outdoors — biking, kayaking, canoeing and fishing were just some of his favorite outdoor pastimes. He loved his family unconditionally and enjoyed many fun times with them, particularly the Elton John concert with his mom. There was a special bond with his niece and nephew, especially when it came to playing with his trains with Mario.

He started playing piano at the age of 5 and enjoyed music. He graduated from Howland High School and played as a percussionist in the Howland Marching Band. Michael received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron and was employed in the dental office of Dr. Kenneth LaPolla.

Michael was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 101 and learned many lifelong skills under the leadership of his Scoutmaster, the late Jim Potjunas. He was well-respected and nicknamed “Fensty” by his fellow scouts. As his Scoutmaster said at his Eagle Court of Honor, “There was something about Michael and leadership, the way he organized his tasks and how he related to his members. It wasn’t a chore for him. He just did it!”

Michael had a very strong Catholic faith and was an altar server and Eucharistic Minister for many years. A private family funeral Mass was held at Blessed Sacrament Church. No other memorial services are planned at this time.

The family requests any material contributions be made, in Michael’s behalf, to his Boy Scout troop: Michael Fenstermaker, Eagle Scout No. 115, Boy Scout Troop 101, 3002 Reeves Road, Warren, Ohio 44483

“Godspeed to a wonderful, well-loved young man, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, scout and friend. You will be missed.”
