Joseph R. Seiber 1924-2017

NILES — Joseph R. Seiber, 93, died Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles. Joseph was born April 8, 1924, in Harriman, Tenn., to Joseph R. Seiber and Bessie Mae Adcox Plant. He retired from the B&O Railroad after 33 years of service. He also owned and operated the Seiber Sports Store for over 30 years. Joseph was also a lifelong member of the Mineral Ridge First Church of God. Joseph is survived by his wife, June A. NILES — James Harley Jones, 77, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Hospice House in Poland. He was born May 21, 1940, in Youngstown, the son of Harley Clifford and Loretta Mae Phillips Jones. He was a veteran of the Marines Corps. Jimmy was the owner and painter for the family business, Jimmy Jones Signs. Volunteers spreading awareness of overdoses

WARREN — The Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board and the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention started a new door hanger campaign to raise awareness of the opioid epidemic gripping Trumbull County. Fourteen groups of ASAP volunteers on June 28 went house-to-house in Niles and Warren, leaving behind door hangers with information on drug use and how to get help. Niles considers park pool repairs

NILES — Much needed repairs to the closed Waddell Park swimming pool are being considered by city council. A study done by Phillips Sekanick Architects of all city-owned buildings, aimed at determining the status of and necessary repairs for the structures, included the pool and park maintenance building. The study found a water pipe leak underneath the pool and roof leaks, cracked walls and a damaged deck in the pool building. Summer festival brings families, former residents home to McDonald

McDONALD — The committee planning the 84th annual McDonald Firemen’s Homecoming Festival say they receive calls at the beginning of the year from former residents who want to know when the event is being held. This year’s festival is 6 to 11 p.m. today through Saturday at Woodland Park across from the municipal building at Ohio Avenue and Fifth Street. Fire Lt.
