Juliette forms in the Pacific, Fernand churns in the Atlantic
MIAMI (AP) — Forecasters say Tropical Storm Juliette has formed in the Pacific Ocean hundreds of miles from Mexico’s Baja California peninsula as Tropical Storm Fernand churns in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center says Monday that no coastal watches or warnings were in effect for either storm. Juliette posed no immediate threat to land as it continued to strengthen. Fernand formed Saturday in the Atlantic basin but was also far from land and forecast to remain over open ocean waters. It was well east of Bermuda and expected to turn more to the northeast.
