Falls interviews candidates for village manager

NEWTON FALLS — Village council on Wednesday spent several hours interviewing three finalists for the village manager position. Council went into executive session shortly after the beginning of the meeting and interviewed three candidates, with each given 45 minutes. The candidates interviewed were Wade Calhoun of Youngstown, who previously served as city manager in Canfield; Jeremy Shaffer of Geneva-on-the-Lake who is director of human resources for Wilmington, Ohio; and former Trumbull County engineer Randy Smith of Warren. Man’s stalking conviction upheld by appeals court

The 11th District Court of Appeals on Monday upheld the conviction and sentence of Leonel L. Brown, 48, of Summit Street NW, Warren. In July, Brown was convicted by a Trumbull County jury of menacing by stalking a minor, a fourth-degree felony, ending a one-day trial before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Sean O’Brien. The jury returned the guilty verdict after deliberating for less than an hour.
