Newton Falls announces new village manager

NEWTON FALLS — After several months of seeking applicants and conducting interviews, village council at a special meeting Wednesday named Jeremy Shaffer of Geneva-on-the-Lake as the new village manager, starting July 6. Mathews principal gives summer updates

VIENNA — School has been out for nearly a month, and one school administrator provided updates as the district prepares for the new year — namely in the improvements department, noting a plethora of them. Southington board promotes principal to superintendent

SOUTHINGTON — Troy Beall, who has served the past two years as the Southington Local Schools’ middle and high school principal, will be taking on a new role as district superintendent. The board of education on Wednesday approved a three-year contract for Beall on a 210-day contract starting Aug. 1 at $94,500. Beall said before coming to Southington, he was a high school teacher and baseball and golf coach for 18 years. He also was an administrator for 10 years in Fort Meyers, Florida. Trumbull Job and Family services director announces retirement

WARREN — John Gargano, the longtime director of the Trumbull County Department of Job and Family Services, will retire Aug. 1 after 41 years of service. Gargano began his career with Job and Family Services on Jan. 7, 1985, as a staff attorney. Man accused of threatening hospital staff

LIBERTY — A Youngstown man accused of threatening staff at a local mental hospital made an appearance in court on Wednesday. Aaron Jones, 32, pleaded not guilty to a pair of assault charges in front of Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffery Adler. According to a police report, officers were called to Generations Behavioral Health in reference to an assault, and dispatchers said the suspect was aggressive and threatening staff.
