Man accused of threatening hospital staff

LIBERTY — A Youngstown man accused of threatening staff at a local mental hospital made an appearance in court on Wednesday.

Aaron Jones, 32, pleaded not guilty to a pair of assault charges in front of Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffery Adler.

According to a police report, officers were called to Generations Behavioral Health in reference to an assault, and dispatchers said the suspect was aggressive and threatening staff.

The report states staff members said they would seclude the man, later identified as Jones, in the hallway and he complied with officers upon being approached.

Staff members told officers that Jones had punched another patient in the face earlier that day, breaking his nose, and the victim had already been taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, the report states.

Jones also is accused of punching another patient in the face prior to officers’ arrival, leaving marks on the left side of the person’s face underneath his eye, the report states.

Staff told officers that Jones had been admitted to Generations numerous times and he is always aggressive in his behavior. The report states Jones refused to speak with officers, saying, “Just take me to jail, so that I can get out.”

Jones remained in jail as of Wednesday evening, being held on a $7,500 bond. Jones is not to come in contact with the victim and is not permitted within 500 feet of Generations as a condition of his bond, court records show.

Jones is set to appear back in court July 9.

Starting at $3.85/week.
