County considers combining eastern, central courts

WARREN — Trumbull County Commissioners are considering passing a resolution to ask the Ohio Supreme Court to do a study to determine if the county’s central and eastern district courts should be consolidated into one court. Two new levies make it to November ballot

While a majority of communities have agreed to place renewals on the ballot, others will look to their residents for additional money in November. Annexation not needed for sewers on Scott Street

NEWTON FALLS — Village council has approved legislation to not require residents on Scott Street to annex into the village to receive sanitary sewer service for a current sewer project. Newton Falls Law Director Gary VanBrocklin said originally, a prior ordinance required anyone who connects to the village for utilities needed to annex into the village, but the ordinance passed recently by council exempts the requirement only for the Scott Street sewer project. Commissioners continue budget review

WARREN — Trumbull County Commissioners are weighing budget concerns of the heads of general fund departments to ensure they will be able to complete 2026 without going into deficit. The commissioners last month received the amounts each of the departments estimate they will need to finish the year. Several departments noted they will require more money than was allocated to them at the beginning of the year. $2.2 million signalization project kicks off in Niles

NILES — A $2.2 million project aiming to improve the quality of life for motorists and pedestrians on the city’s central road in its downtown area is underway, but isn’t expected to affect local businesses, says Mayor Steve Mientkiewicz. NEWTON FALLS — Newton Falls police have arrested a man in connection with a domestic violence incident and standoff at the Newton Village Apartments that began just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
