A federal judge in a civil lawsuit late last month cleared a Brookfield police officer, a Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office deputy, Vienna police officer and an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper of all liability in the March 21, 2023, shooting death of Fred H. Wild in Brookfield. Trustees review options for former Central school property

CHAMPION — Township trustees were once again asked by residents what is being planned for the former nine-acre Central Elementary School property off Route 45 but one item is for sure trustees say they do not want a park there. Trustees at their meeting Tuesday said that there have been numerous discussions on what to use the property for since the township acquired it from the Champion schools. Falls gives initial reading to repeal moratorium on marijuana dispensaries

NEWTON FALLS — Village council this week gave the initial first reading to repeal a moratorium placed two years ago on permits for marijuana dispensaries. Councilman Brian Axiotis, 2nd Ward, said the moratorium was put in place by council in May 2024 over concerns with marijuana dispensaries and finding out more information about them. “At that time there were a lot of unknowns, and the moratorium was to allow for more discussion and review on marijuana dispensaries, which there has been very little,” he said. 2 Trumbull County residents have measles

The Trumbull County Combined Health District confirmed two cases of measles in the county with the two people unvaccinated and the cases unrelated. During the infectious period, one person was at the Walmart on Goldie Road in Liberty on July 29 and at Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley emergency department on Market Street in Boardman on Aug. 2. The health district stated it is working with Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley and the Ohio Department of Health to investigate and notify anyone who may have been exposed.
