Man accused of sex act at Perkins Park

WARREN — A Southington man is set to reappear in court in two weeks, after he was accused of performing a sexual act on another man at Perkins Park. Kenneth Kopp, 53, pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent exposure and drug paraphernalia in front of Warren Municipal Court Judge Natasha Natale Monday morning. According to a police report, Warren officers were called to the park Friday for a reported sex offense, and dispatchers said two men were in the park when one of the men approached the caller and his wife and offered them money to watch the sex act. Rescuer finds, saves 11-year-old boy in a locked dog cage during fire

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department and Youngstown Fire Department are investigating what is being called an arson early Monday in which an 11-year-old boy was rescued from a dog cage in a first-floor bedroom. An unidentified person rescued the boy from a locked dog cage while helping to rescue the boy and his family from a fire Monday on Forest View Drive on the East Side. Former mayor to fill McDonald council seat

McDONALD — Village council has named former mayor Glen “Marty” Puckett to fill an open seat on council. Council met for less than five minutes at a special meeting Monday where they voted 5-0 naming Puckett to the seat. Former councilman Don Smith stepped down as he and his family are moving to Florida. Vienna extends data center moratorium

VIENNA — Township officials are only a few steps away from having their data center language in place, but they’re not taking any chances. Trustees at Monday’s meeting approved extending their ongoing moratorium for another 60 days, from Aug. 16 to Oct. 16. Zoning Inspector Mark Posey said he sent the township’s data center zoning language to the Trumbull County Planning Commission on Monday, and he expects it to come back sometime in September.
