Trumbull considers adjusting bed-tax rules

WARREN — The Trumbull County Commissioners are considering applying the county’s bed tax on Airbnbs and short-term rentals. Trumbull now charges a 5% bed tax on short-term lease organizations that have five or more beds. Champion to add 3 firefighters with SAFER grant

CHAMPION — For the first time since 1982, the township will be hiring three new full-time firefighters/emergency medical technicians, which is being made possible by an Assistance to Firefighting Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant. Hubbard mayor gives update on dam project

HUBBARD — Talks regarding the removal of a dam and sediment picked up in recent months and action is getting closer, according to the city’s mayor. During caucus before Monday’s city council meeting, Mayor Ben Kyle said the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments was able to acquire all the funding necessary for removing the Valley Mould Dam. Woman’s estate sues nursing home after colon perforation

WARREN — The estate of Margaret A. Lightner has sued Warren Nursing & Rehab, 2473 North Road, in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, alleging medical negligence, recklessness, wrongful death, Resident’s Rights Law violations, civil conspiracy and fraud. The suit, filed last month, states that Lightner, of Niles, died May 7, 2025, after the facility accepted her as a short-term rehabilitation resident on or about March 31, 2025 “to provide rehabilitation care and treatment as she recovered from surgery to repair a broken vertebrae in her spine.” She was 60 when she entered the ...

Braceville enacts 6-month moratorium on data centers

BRACEVILLE — As more and more communities place moratoriums on issuing permits for data centers, Braceville trustees also have taken that step by approving a six-month moratorium, effective immediately. Trustees at their meeting Tuesday unanimously passed the moratorium for any permits and applications being issued.
