Molotov Cocktail thrown into Warren apartment Saturday

WARREN — An incendiary device known as a molotov cocktail was thrown into an apartment at 444 Belmont Ave. NW near Mahoning Avenue and Summit Street early Saturday. When a police officer arrived for the 3:14 a.m. call, there was smoke coming from an open window in the unit of a multi-unit building. He saw what appeared to be smoke damage to the upper portion of the siding. Howland trustees approve resource officers, firefighter

HOWLAND — The Howland Local School District’s resource officers are returning, but at a slightly cheaper cost to the district. Trustees at Wednesday’s meeting approved a pair of resource officer contracts with the district effective Sept. 8, 2026 through June 3, 2027. The contracts total $106,355, with one costing $75,899 and the other costing $30,455. Staff report WARREN — A second man has been charged in an alleged indecent act July 31 at Perkins Park in the city. Anthony Spinosa, the chorbishop of the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon in North Jackson, was charged with procuring, a first-degree misdemeanor, and public indecency, a second-degree misdemeanor, on Friday in Warren Municipal Court. VIENNA — It’s been about a week since a search for a missing teenager resulted in him being returned to his family, safe and sound, and Vienna officials showed their appreciation to the entities that helped make it possible. Trial in mail carrier murder moved to Friday

Newly discovered evidence in the federal murder trial of Kaprise and Thomas Sledge caused the start of the trial to be moved from Monday to 8:30 a.m. this Friday, according to a Sunday and a Monday filing in U.S. District Court in Cleveland. The Sledges were supposed to go on trial Monday in the March 2, 2024, shooting death of U.S. Postal Service carrier Jonte Davis, 33, at Olive Avenue and Scott Street just northeast of Courthouse Square in Warren.
