SCOPE centers halt cash prizes for bingo

WARREN — Trumbull County’s eight SCOPE centers have temporarily stopped providing cash prizes as its leaders determine the best ways for the individual centers to handle money. Trumbull County Commissioner Rick Hernandez discussed the issue at the commissioners’ weekly workshop Tuesday because he said he received more than a dozen phone calls from seniors who want cash prizes restored. Champion approves new contract with police

CHAMPION — Township trustees on Tuesday approved a new three-year contract with the police department union that represents six full-time officers. Trustee Chairman Doug Emerine said the new contract, which is retroactive to May 1, grants a 3.25% pay increase this year and 3% increases in 2027 and 2028. The starting salary for a police officer is $28.50 per hour. Police officers also will contribute 7% toward their healthcare coverage. Lordstown plans for work at former library building

LORDSTOWN — Village officials said they plan to proceed with work at the former Lordstown library, with plans for that structure to house offices now located on the second floor of the nearby village administration building. Building Superintendent Martin Nelder said the village has sought bids for the library remodeling project.
