Niles approves sale, trade of police vehicles

NILES — The city will gain value from vehicles no longer used by its law enforcement, thanks to deals with two townships. As part of their consent agenda Wednesday, city officials approved an ordinance authorizing the sale of two decommissioned police cruisers to Champion Township, and declared it an emergency action. The ordinance’s body section states the vehicles, a 2018 and 2019 Ford Explorer, will be purchased from Niles for $15,000, adding that they are no longer needed for any municipal use by the city. Disc golf course coming to McDonald

McDONALD — This fall residents will have the opportunity to play disc golf as a course will soon be under construction at Woodland Park. Mayor Ray Lewis said that Turbo Putt Disc Golf has donated installation of the 9-hole disc golf course with work to be in a few weeks. He said there is no cost to the village for the course. The course will take players through different parts of the park, including the wooded areas and near Billy Goat Hill. Mines Road resurfacing to start Monday

HOWLAND — Motorists traversing a portion of Mines Road should expect delays next week — but not for long. Trumbull County Engineer David DeChristofaro announced the resurfacing of the road in a news release Thursday, which will affect Mines from state Route 46 to Stillwagon Road beginning Monday. The project is anticipated to be completed the week of Aug. 31, and there will be lane restrictions to perform milling, partial depth pavement repairs and resurfacing of the immediate and surface courses of asphalt, followed by pavement markings.
