Warren rescuers pull man from ravine by river

WARREN — Fire department crews on Friday helped rescue a man stuck in a ravine along the Mahoning River below the Summit Street dam. Reports state crews conducted a water rescue by putting a boat into the Mahoning River to get to the man who is believed to have fallen down an embankment into the water. The man was on land by the water and was able to be reached and taken on a raft across the water and then placed into an ambulance and transported to the hospital, a fire report states. A spokesman at the fire department did not have further details on the man’s condition or identity.

ODOT announces new road closures

The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced new road adjustments related to the Interstate 80 resurfacing project in Austintown and Jackson townships. Starting Sunday, the ramp from Interstate 80 west to state Route 11 south will be closed through July 29. The detour will be I-80 west to state Route 46 to I-80 east to Route 11 south. Joyce, Rulli hold huge financial advantages

U.S. Reps. Dave Joyce and Michael Rulli, the two Republicans who represent the Mahoning Valley, have significantly more money in their campaign accounts than their Democratic challengers. After contested primaries for the Democratic and Republican nominations in both districts, Joyce, R-Bainbridge, had $3,121,594 in his campaign fund as of June 30 while Rulli, R-Salem, had $284,711.
