Newton Falls hires new village clerk

NEWTON FALLS — After several interviews and meetings with candidates, village council has hired Corey Snow as its new full-time village clerk/clerk of council. Snow was hired at a salary of $78,332, with increases every three months until he reaches a salary of $87,464 after 12 months. The position does not allow for any overtime pay for the clerk. Snow will handle day-to-day operations at the municipal building, where he will work with new Village Manager Jeremy Shaffer, while also serving as clerk for council’s two regular monthly meetings. Sherri Harper Woods, associate professor of social work at Youngstown State University, is continuing an ongoing guest-faculty visit in Rwanda, where she is leading trauma-informed care training and strengthening partnerships that support future YSU student learning experiences. HUBBARD — The upcoming year looks to be one centered on upgrades, with one being focused on saving the city money on income tax collection, according to Mayor Ben Kyle on Tuesday. Kyle said during caucus ahead of the city council’s regular meeting that the city will have “a lot of” internal protocols and upgrades that his office wishes to see happen throughout the rest of the year and 2027. WARREN — A man initially thought to be the victim in a June 16 shooting at Parkman Road and Northfield Avenue NW was arraigned Tuesday on two counts of felonious assault and one count of discharging a firearm into a habitation. Kasey N. Morgan, 21, of Linda Drive NW, was arraigned on two counts of felonious assault and one count of discharging a firearm into a habitation, all second-degree felonies. The Tribune Chronicle is seeking nominations for its annual Trumbull County Firefighter of the Year competition. Nominees will be evaluated on dedication, productivity, loyalty and professionalism.
