Brookfield marks 50 years of recreation

BROOKFIELD — It was the summer of 1976 when Brookfield Township Community Park off Stewart Sharon Road officially opened to the public, providing a place for families to enjoy recreational activities and the outdoors. The 30-acre park includes numerous ballfields, concession stand/pavilion, walking trails and Jenny Junction Playground. State probes 2 Valley schools over testing irregularities

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has launched investigations of Southside Academy in Youngstown and Newton Falls Elementary School over irregularities in state testing procedures last spring. The two Mahoning Valley schools are among 52 statewide that ODEW announced Friday it is now targeting. The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has unveiled the first bobblehead of Sue, the tiny orange kitten who went viral recently after being rescued from an excavator in Leavittsburg by workers from RiverReach Construction in Barberton. The limited-edition Sue the Kitten bobblehead is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee and the museum will donate 10% of the sales from the bobbleheads to One of a Kind Pet Rescue in Akron.
