Prosecutor: Man accused of lunging at Acton didn’t commit any felonies

CANFIELD — Patrick Havas, who is alleged to have lunged at Amy Acton, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, during an incident Sunday afternoon at the Canfield Fair, did not commit any offenses that rise to felonies, Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro said. Havas, 38, of Canfield, was arrested Sunday on two counts of assault and one misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Data centers will be topic at Warren City Council meeting Wednesday

WARREN – Among the legislation that will be introduced at the Warren City Council meeting tonight will be a proposed one year moratorium on data centers in Warren. Tonight’s 5 p.m. meeting is the first one since Warren City Council went on its August break. The legislation, which is sponsored by council members Greg Greathouse and Greg Thumm, would place a moratorium on data center projects larger than 1,000 square feet. Girard seeks new safety service director

GIRARD — City officials are in the process of finding a safety service director as Glenn Holmes — who has been serving in the position since last spring — has submitted his resignation. Mayor Mark Zuppo said Tuesday that Holmes will be leaving Oct. 1 for personal reasons. Zuppo said while the city is looking for a replacement, Zachary Teter, who serves as the city’s new engineer, will take on the duties of the service director. Friend raising funds for woman killed in motorcycle-horse accident

A friend of a Cortland woman who was killed while riding her motorcycle last week on state Route 46 in Bazetta is asking for financial help for the Cortland woman’s family. Heather M. Robinson, 42, died Friday morning when her motorcycle collided with a horse near Cadwallader Sonk Road. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating, but stated that she was traveling south when two horses entered the road. Newton Falls hires new village clerk

NEWTON FALLS — After several interviews and meetings with candidates, village council has hired Corey Snow as its new full-time village clerk/clerk of council. Snow was hired at a salary of $78,332, with increases every three months until he reaches a salary of $87,464 after 12 months. The position does not allow for any overtime pay for the clerk. Snow will handle day-to-day operations at the municipal building, where he will work with new Village Manager Jeremy Shaffer, while also serving as clerk for council’s two regular monthly meetings. Sherri Harper Woods, associate professor of social work at Youngstown State University, is continuing an ongoing guest-faculty visit in Rwanda, where she is leading trauma-informed care training and strengthening partnerships that support future YSU student learning experiences.
