Staff report

Newton Falls police arrested a local man Thursday morning, wanted on five felony warrants in connection to rapes and endangering of children.

Police Chief John Barco said officers from the Newton Falls Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, arrested Michael Pavlov, 29, of Newton Falls.

He said Pavlov was wanted on five felony warrants issued through the Newton Falls Municipal Court on charges out of the police department, which included three counts of rape (first-degree felonies) and two counts of endangering children (second-degree felonies).

Barco said the charges involve two child victims, a 6-year-old female and a 4-year-old male.

He said following a brief investigation into Pavlov’s whereabouts, officers and task force members located the man at a Newton Falls residence.

Pavlov was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Trumbull County jail, where he is being held pending court proceedings.

Barco said the police department commends the officers and task force members for their work in locating and safely apprehending Pavlov.
