WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Brian Axiotis, Brian Kropp, Julie Stimpert, Bob Burke, Kevin Rufener and Mayor David Hanson

Council:

• Passed an updated motion that elected officials are not required to have a drug test to serve in office. Axiotis said the village is following the law and protecting taxpayers from lawsuits.

• Heard from Rufener that traffic has been backed up on parts of Broad Street and Canal Street as Ember Electric does infrastructure work in that area, which was delayed due to heavy snow and subzero windchills.

• Heard from Stimpert about seeking garbage collection bids as the current trash collection service contract is up for bids.

• Heard from Stimpert the joint fire district was able to add two additional staff to help cover overnight hours at the station. She said there have been many calls for mutual aid from other fire departments
