WARREN — City police were called out Monday afternoon to the shooting of a man inside a vehicle off Elm Road.
Reports from the Trumbull County 911 Center show several calls at 12:20 p.m. about shots being fired on Paige Avenue NE between Elm Road and Fairfield Street, which is not too far from Warren G. Harding High School.
Police taped off that section of Paige Avenue NE and the parking lot of Hoda’s Tobacco & Convenient Store at the corner of Paige Avenue and Elm Road, where a silver Dodge car had its windows shot out.
Police placed 17 yellow evidence markers in the middle of Paige Avenue and were taking photos of the scene and gathering shell casings in the road.
Calls made by customers at the store and in the area reported hearing numerous gunshots and someone being hit inside the vehicle. Callers to 911 stated a passenger was inside the vehicle and the male driver was shot in the head.
Callers reported that the shooter was a skinny man wearing all black and got inside a red vehicle that fled the scene toward Atlantic Street.
The victim was taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital, where his condition was unknown Monday evening.
An employee at Hoda’s Tobacco had a security video that was given to police.
The caller said a white vehicle that was behind the red vehicle also fled toward Atlantic Street.
