WHAT: Trustees meeting Feb. 11
PRESENT: Frank Dillon, James LaPolla and Matthew Vansuch
Trustees:
• Approved a 2026 contract with Grace Services Inc. to provide weed control in township ditches, retention ponds and cemeteries for $4,660.
• Approved authorizing Fiscal Officer Thomas Krispinsky to pay the Trumbull County treasurer/highway engineer $17,242 for the December salt purchase.
• Approved removing Richard Brannon and Dennis Lewis as part-time fire and EMS Instructors from the Howland Training Center due to their retirements from service.
• Accepted the resignations of part-time Instructors John Hickey and James Sapp, both for personal reasons.
• Approved hiring Jason Myers as a part-time instructor for the training center at a $20 an hour probationary and $25 an hour lead rate, with no benefits, and scheduled on an as-needed basis.
• Approved applying for the Enbridge Safe Community First Responder Program Grant, which would provide up to $10,000 in upfront funding if awarded.
• Approved and accepted the $1,000 receipt for the 2025 MORE Reimbursement Grant; the money was used to purchase an AED for the Public Works Department.
• Approved a contract with Alexander Pest Control for the 2026 Mosquito Spraying Program for $17,319, which the Trumbull County Combined Health District is applying for a 2026 EPA Mosquito Control Grant to help offset.
• Approved applying for the 2026 OTARMA Police & Fire/EMS Grant of $2,000, which would result in each department receiving $1,000 if selected.

WHAT: Board of education meeting Monday
PRESENT: John Pitts, David Mahan. Patricia Fisher, Aaron Abrahamson and Marie Downs
The board:
• Recognized Jennifer Wilson, a first-grade teacher, for receiving $500 from the Trumbull Retired Teachers Association for special learning items such as writing tablets for her students.
• Approved the 2026-27 school calendar, with the first day for students Aug. 19 and the last day May 20, 2027.
• Heard from Superintendent John Grabowski that the district is taking part in the Vision to Learn program, where every two years district students have their eyes checked and if they need glasses and can’t afford them, they are provided to the student. He said the district this week is also having students’ teeth checked as part of a dental sealant program with dental assistant students from the Trumbull Career & Technical Center and instructor Jill Woods.
• Recognized the boys bowling team for making it to state competition for the third year in a row. The team finished third in districts.
• Hired Jami Plott as track timing technician and David Goldberg as eSports coach.
• Accepted the resignation of Ashley Terlecky, high school sign language teacher, effective Aug. 14; resignation of Dennis Skeets as bus driver effective May 31; and resignation of Damon Warren as custodial position effective Saturday.
• Hired Jerrica Merten and Martha Frederick as food services staff.
