WHAT: Township trustees meeting Monday
PRESENT: Michael Haddle, Kim Ellis and Phil Pegg
Trustees:
• Appointed Phil Pegg and Kim Ellis to the tax incentive review council.
• Appointed Doug Goulin to the township’s zoning board of appeals.
• Appointed Robert Steiner to the township’s zoning commission.
• Approved sending Haddle and Ellis and Road Superintendent Ron Fraser to the Ohio Township Association’s winter meeting.
• Approved paying Ascendance Truck $865 for a vehicle’s side by side repair.
• Approved paying Lexicon for policy manual and training bulletins for the police department, costing $4,060.
• Approved paying the Trumbull County Soil and Water Conservation District $1,670.
• Approved Andrew Whitfield as part-time summer help.
• Approved paying Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team $2,000.

Girard
WHAT: Board of education meeting Jan. 22
PRESENT: Joseph Castor, Vincent Ragozine, Tammy King, Zachary Steiner and Scott Strain
The board:
• Named Steiner as student achievement liaison to the Ohio School Boards Association with Ragozine as alternate.
• Approved the 2026-27 school calendar with the first day for students Aug. 20 and last day May 19, 2027.
• Accepted a $9,397 bus safety grant from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
• Named Lynn Mickey as secretary for the junior high for 10.5 months at $19.17 per hour, replacing Angie Cole, who retired. Mickey had previously served as clerical aide with her last day Jan. 21.
• Approved Janine Bahler as substitute nurse at $17.50 per hour on an as needed basis.

Bristol
WHAT: Township trustees meetings Jan. 13 and Feb. 3
PRESENT: Doug Seemann, Jeff Waldeck and Rhonda Snyder
Trustees:
• Are sending a letter to PUCO objecting to the proposal to extend the acceptable amount of time for power restoration during an outage. Snyder said there is concern about loss of heat, spoiled refrigerated medication, spoiled groceries and needed electricity for people who use oxygen tanks.
• Reported road supervisor Bob Greskovic will take on duties as cemetery sexton.
• Appointed William Beechler to the zoning board of appeals and Carolyn Marino to the zoning commission, both for five years.
• Were informed there has been a problem of tires being dropped off at sides of roads in the township.
• Heard from resident Dan Lamosek that he spoke with USPS staff that packages too big for a mailbox will be placed by the mailbox, or residents need to make arrangements to pick them up at the post office.
• Have received five AEDs, with one for the township building, one for the fire hall, two for the road department and one for the Bristol Library.
• Announced the new senior center is set to open at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the township administration building offering cornhole, cards and board games. Lunches will be provided to residents age 60 and older Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Announced free smoke detectors are available at the fire station.
• Set spring cleanup and tire collection, covered by a Go Green grant, 8 a.m. to noon May 9.
• Announced the zoning commission will meet 6 p.m. Monday regarding data centers.

WHAT: City council meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Doug Sollitto, Jimmy Julian, Michael Lastic, Ed Stredney, Todd Weddell, Aaron Johnstone, James Sheely and Frank Leskovec
Council:
• Held second reading for an ordinance appointing and reappointing members to various boards as required by the Ohio Revised Code and / or the city’s codified ordinance, and declaring an emergency.
• Held first reading of an ordinance amending the authorized strength ordinance and declaring an emergency.
• Held first reading of an ordinance authorizing the appropriation of funds from the unappropriated fire loss claims funds for the refund of fire loss claims and declaring an emergency.
• Held first reading to a resolution authorizing the city to apply for and accept the Norfolk Southern Safety First Grant for a new battery-powered Genesis cutter extrication tool and declaring an emergency.
• Held first reading to an ordinance authorizing the service director to advertise for bids and enter into a contract for the Tru Summit Avenue / Olive Street mill and fill project and declaring an emergency.
• Held first reading to an ordinance authorizing the safety director to purchase through Sourcewell Cooperative a Hyperdrive lawn mower for the light department and declaring an emergency.
• Held first reading to an ordinance authorizing the mayor and the safety director to enter into an agreement with the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners for indigent legal services and declaring an emergency.
• Held first reading to an ordinance authorizing the appropriation of funds from the unappropriated general fund and approving a then and now payment request for Trumbull County indigent defense representation for 2024 and 2025 and declaring an emergency.
