BAZETTA — Township trustees selected Michael Hovis as the board chairman for the upcoming year at their organizational meeting on Tuesday.

Bob McBride was chosen as vice chair. Joel Davis is the third trustee who won election in November.

Also at the meeting, trustees set their monthly meetings for 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. A caucus with township department heads will begin at 6 p.m. before each meeting.

The first regular meeting of the new year will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 13.

Trustees also conducted their usual beginning-of-the-year business, setting salaries for township employees, firefighters and medics, and the zoning inspector as follows:

• Teresa Bott, police secretary, $20 an hour.

• Eric Ginn, firefighter / paramedic, $16.25 an hour.

• Jeremy Gless, firefighter / paramedic, $16.25 an hour.

• Todd Shafer, firefighter / paramedic, $16.25 an hour.

• Talon Cerni, firefighter / EMT, $13 an hour.

• Mathew Kello, firefighter / EMT, $13 an hour.

• Mark Posey, zoning inspector, $1,100 per month.

• Rich Urchek, zoning secretary, $11 an hour.

• Thad Wajda, cemetery sexton,  $350 per month.
