Trumbull GOP encourages people to join central committee
The Trumbull County Republican Party is asking local Republicans to consider running for positions on its central committee.
The party is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 17 at party headquarters, 1195 Niles Cortland Road N.E. in Howland, to provide information for those interested in running for central committee seats.
“One person stepping up creates a ripple effect that strengthens our entire community,” said party Chairwoman Julia Shutt. “If you’ve ever discussed politics over coffee or advocated for change at a local meeting this is your opportunity. Join us in building a more vibrant Trumbull County GOP one conversation, one vote and one precinct at a time.”
Those with questions can contact Shutt by email at trumbullgopchair@outlook.com.
Central committee members are responsible for electing party officers, supporting candidates and organizing community events that amplify Republican voices, Shutt said. Committee members vet nominees that align with party principles, she said.
Shutt said: “Grassroots involvement turns community passion into political power,” Shutt said. “A single idea from a committee meeting can lead to policies that fix roads, support small businesses and protect our schools. We’re calling on everyday Republicans in Trumbull County — from Warren to Hubbard and beyond — to step up and help build a stronger party accountable to voters.”
Those seeking to run for a seat on the party’s central committee need to fill out a declaration of candidacy form and return it to the Trumbull County Board of Elections by 4 p.m. Feb. 4. No additional signatures are needed. The election for central committee members is May 5.
Those who serve on the central committee meet about four times a year and help shape candidate slates, organize events and volunteer on campaigns, Shutt said.
