WHAT: Village council organizational meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Sean Schmidt, John Metzinger, Kerry Reckard, Don Smith, Brian Bosheff and Mayor Ray Lewis

Council:

• Is reviewing applications received to fill a vacant seat on council. No one filed to run for the seat in the November election. Lewis said council should have someone selected by February, noting the deadline for council to select someone is Jan. 31 or the mayor makes the selection.

• Named Schmidt as council president pro-tem and Bosheff as planning commission representative.

• Approved a homecoming festival committee that includes Schmidt, police Chief Ryan Ronghi, fire Lt. Dan Jamison, village administrator Tom Domitrovich, Melissa Mills, McDonald High School art teacher representing the schools, and residents Kyle Joynes, a former councilman, and Kim Jones Schmidt.

• Named Schmidt chairman of the safety committee, Reckard for parks and buildings, Smith for finance and levy exploration, and Metzinger for service.

• Set meetings for 6 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month and 6 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at the municipal building.
