WHAT: Township trustees organizational and regular meeting Jan. 5
PRESENT: Jeff Davis and Lynn Michalec
ABSENT: Todd Williams
Trustees:
• Named Williams as chairman and Davis as vice chairman.
• Named department liaisons with Michalec for road department, Williams for fire department and Davis for police department.
• Approved department heads and monthly compensation with police Chief Mike Currington at $850 per month, zoning inspector Brian Gates at $575 per month and Dean Stanley, fire safety officer, a yearly stipend of $750.
• Approved pay rates of full-time firefighter / paramedic at $22 per hour; full-time firefighter / EMT at $20 per hour; part-time EMT at $17 per hour; part-time firefighter / EMT at $18 per hour; part-time firefighter / paramedic at $20 per hour; part-time police officer at $20 per hour; and full-time road supervisor at $25 per hour.
• Approved payment to Cortland for $1,425 for five medic assists in November.
• Approved payment to D&TPM for $539 for Tanker 23 repairs.
• Approved payment to Lifeforce Billing for October and November for $1,059.
• Established an Ohio Public Employees Retirement System fund for part-time EMS-only personnel.
• Established a fund for opioid settlement money received from court-related settlements from the National Opioid Settlement.
• Passed a resolution to abate junk vehicles on a resident’s property.
• Appointed Randy Kellar as a member of the zoning commission.
• Heard from state Rep. David Thomas, who attended the meeting and discussed the property tax reform bill.
• Set meetings for 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month. If the first Monday is a holiday, the meeting will be the following Monday.
