WHAT: Board of Education organizational meeting Jan. 7

PRESENT: Jared Bilas, Brooke Vondrasek, Kristina Stephens, Candy Bemus and Don Mickel

The board:

• Named Stephens as board president and Bilas as vice president.

• Approved committee appointments: Bemus to athletics and student liaison; Bilas to audit, finance and technical; Stephens to extracurricular and legislative; Mickel to grounds and safety / security; and Vondrasek to public relations and Trumbull Career & Technical Center board.

• Approved the purchase of a 72-passenger school bus from Bus Rush Centers at $141,367, with trade in of two buses from 2012 and 2014.

• Approved Rebecca Brugler as trustee to the Bristol Library board for a five-year term to fill a vacancy.

• Approved an agreement with Jostens for printing the high school yearbook.

• Accepted a $5,525 donation from KBerry Construction for materials and labor to install lockers at the high school girls’ team room.

• Set meetings for 6 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month, except June 24 and Aug. 17.
