Falls bridge closed after accident
NEWTON FALLS — The historic covered bridge in Newton Falls is closed after a vehicle crashed into it late Sunday night.
Police Chief John Barco said the accident happened between 11:30 a.m. and midnight Sunday.
Barco said the male driver, who suffered a broken arm, called police about the accident.
Barco said the bridge will remain closed until it is inspected by the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office. He said the left side of the bridge sustained minor damage from the crash.
The covered bridge has been closed at other times following crashes that caused damage.
