Bazetta places levy renewals on ballot
BAZETTA — Township voters will see levy renewal requests on the May primary ballot after trustees decided at their year-end meeting on Tuesday to ask for renewals of the existing levies.
Voters will be asked to reauthorize a 0.6-mill levy that funds the township police department and a 0.6-mill levy that funds the township road and bridge program. Trustees also approved the 2026 budgetary appropriations.
Highlights of the spending plan include $750,000 for the general fund, $1,089,000 for the police department, $1,805,900 for the fire department, and $369,800 for roads and bridges.
Also, trustees set the 2026 reorganizational meeting for 7 p.m. Jan. 6.
At the end of the meeting, trustees recessed into executive session to discuss issues related to police employees, noting that compensation or other terms of employment could be discussed.
