Willow Lake Campground plans revitalization
Willow Lake Campground, a longstanding recreation spot in Trumbull County, has been purchased by a new ownership group that said it plans to restore and modernize the Champion Township property after years of operational challenges and declining attendance.
The team, led by entrepreneur Justin Staten, announced a broad improvement plan aimed at returning the campground to its former status as a popular family destination.
“We’re excited to invest in this property and the surrounding community,” Staten said. “Residents will see steady improvements in the months ahead, and we look forward to making Willow Lake a destination families are proud to visit again.”
Planned upgrades include improvements to the swimming area, renovations to aging facilities, enhanced grounds maintenance and infrastructure work, and a renewed emphasis on customer service and cleanliness.
The swimming area — once a major draw — will be a top priority as the new owners work to bring back visitors who drifted away in recent years. The campground also plans to offer seasonal campsites beginning in 2026, with availability updates to be shared throughout the year.
“Willow Lake has been a special place for generations of families,” Staten said. “Our goal is to bring it back to the standard people remember — and create an even better experience moving forward.”
Updates and renovation progress will be posted on the Willow Lake Campground Facebook page.
