J.J. Cafaro donates $3K in food assistance for veterans

A Mahoning Valley-based nonprofit will provide $3,000 worth of emergency food assistance to veterans in the Mahoning Valley.

According to a news release, the Cover Down Fund received a donation from John J. Cafaro, which will allow both the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission and Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission to receive food vouchers to assist veterans experiencing emergency financial hardship during the holiday season.

“This donation ensures that veterans facing unexpected challenges have access to immediate assistance when they need it most,” said Cover Down Fund founder Herm Breuer. “We are grateful for Mr. Cafaro’s continued commitment to honoring those who have served and for helping strengthen the local safety net for veterans in our community.”

The Cover Down Fund encourages veterans in the Mahoning Valley who may not be connected to available benefits or resources to reach out to their county’s veterans service office, which can help determine eligibility for assistance and connect veterans with critical services and support.

Starting at $3.23/week.
