WHAT: Village council meeting Monday

PRESENT: Robert Bond, Ernie Bowen, Lamar Liming, Jamie Moseley, Jessica Blank, Howard Sheely and Mayor Jackie Woodward

Council:

• Approved paying employees Darren Biggs and Mike Fuchilla all their vacation time except the 40 hours that is covered in the master benefit ordinance. Because of the shortage of manpower, Biggs and Fuchilla were not able to take all of their vacation for 2025.

• Heard from Woodward, it is “disheartening news for the community” on the temporary and indefinite layoffs by Ultium Cells effective in January.

• Approved Mark Caruso as a full-time laborer for the Board of Public Affairs.

• Received a $2,000 donation from Ultium Cells for a police dog bite suit and $1,049 for an app that determines the body temperature of the dog when it is inside the cruiser.

• Approved $1,000 to be used for the Christmas tree lighting ceremony set for 6 p.m. Nov. 21 at the large tree by the fire department on Salt Springs Road.
