WHAT: Township trustees meetings Nov. 5 and Nov. 17

PRESENT: Doug Seemann, Jim Cicchillo and Jeff Waldeck

Trustees:

• Discussed replacing tornado sirens in the future, but noted the two in the community are still usable and working. Officials said new sirens cost $30,000 to $40,000 each.

• Approved buying back unused graves at the cemeteries. Seemann said the township can resell the graves for a higher price.

• Approved purchasing new tires for the fire engineer from Great Lakes Tires at $5,248.

• Approved an American Red Cross blood drive at the township hall in February in connection with Bristol schools.

• Announced a Toys for Tots collection at the fire station through Dec. 31.

• Reinstated Tom Domes as a firefighter / emergency medical technician.

• Heard from fire Chief Steve Craiger, who suggested opioid settlement monies be used for emergency medical service software.

• Heard from Craiger regarding plans to put together an emergency mitigation plan. The plan needs to be in place to receive funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There will be a public review of the plan in February.

• Heard from residents about the need for an informational township social media page, which officials will look into setting up.

• Announced the Bristol zoning board will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 for a public hearing on shipping containers, which, if used for agriculture, can be regulated. Also to be discussed are solar energy systems.
