WARREN TOWNSHIP — Township officials said the year has been successful in securing grants for different projects and efforts to get more staff for the police and fire departments.

Trustee Ed Anthony told about 30 residents at Tuesday’s meeting that the township has been able to get $431,000 in various grants this year for road work and equipment for different departments. He said $264,000 in Ohio Public Works Commission funds was secured for road projects.

He said 2025 was one of the township’s best years for securing large amounts of grants. Anthony said in the past eight years, the township was able to get 32 roads paved at a cost of $3,257,622 and seven roads chipped and sealed at $109,000 as well as securing other funding for sidewalks.

“There has been a lot of work to get grants,” he said.

He said efforts now are being made to get a grant for sidewalks from Eagle Creek Road to the LaBrae school campus.

In other business, trustees approved Adam Scott as a part-time patrolman at $17.50 per hour.

Anthony said the police department was able to get full-time and part-time officers this year.

Fire Chief Joseph Natali said the department has looked at a cadet program to get high school students as part timers for the department. Trustees plan to act on the cadet program at the November meeting.
