Warren police investigate ‘hit list’ at private school
Staff report
WARREN — Police are investigating a report of a “hit list” found at Summit Academy in Warren.
Summit Academy Management, which operates the school, released a statement through Denise Henry, its director of communications.
“We are working closely with law enforcement and will follow all recommendations to keep our school safe,” the statement said. “The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority.”
According to a Warren police report, a parent visited the police station Oct. 23 to report the list. She said her son, a senior at Summit Academy, was aware of a “hit list” going around the school. The parent told police that school staff informed her about the list.
An officer responded to the school that same day. He spoke with the school’s principal who said the list was found on a student’s phone in its Notes app. The principal noted that a similar incident happened at the school in October 2022, when a note with a “killing list” was found in a student’s folder. That student was suspended at the time.
The student reportedly linked to the 2025 list was sent home and was not at school when police arrived.
