Police probe officer-involved shooting

WARREN — City police are investigating an early Sunday officer-involved shooting on Fourth Street SW.

A news release from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, states it, as well as other law enforcement agencies, were called to the scene at 7 a.m. following what started as a chase that began in Champion.

Fourth and Fifth streets were closed while law enforcement officials were at the scene.

Warren Councilwoman Honeya Price, D-6th Ward, said she went to the area and found both streets blocked. She said she did not know any specifics regarding what happened, but had heard from people that a police chase started in Champion and entered Warren.

Reports state an ambulance was at the scene and transported someone to the hospital.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted to investigate the incident because an officer was involved.

No further information was provided by Warren or Champion police.
