NEOCC prisoner stabs cell mate five times in the back
YOUNGSTOWN — An inmate at the Northeast Ohio Correctional Institution on Hubbard Road stabbed his cell mate five times in the back with a knife, and once behind his ear, once in his front torso and once in the finger late Sunday.
The Youngstown Police Department was called to the facility at 11:33 p.m. An officer spoke with a guard, who said the victim and his cell mate got into a fight about 11 p.m.
Police officers were advised that the injuries were not life threatening. The inmate was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment.
Officers were told that “the scene was processed prior to our arrival and … the incident is under investigation,” the report states.
