Lakeview Board of Education candidates
Three Lakeview Board of Education incumbents are being challenged by two newcomers for three seats on the board in Tuesday’s election. Incumbents are Angela Campana, Mark Harper and Danielle Scherer, who are being challenged by Derrick Bush and Nick Lawrence.
Angela Campana
PREVIOUS ELECTED OFFICE: Four years on board of education
GOALS: Ensuring academic excellence for each student through programs and services; advocating for fair and responsible funding for public schools from the state; and building strong partnerships within the community. I am a 25-year school teacher familiar with teaching and the needs of the schools.
Mark Harper
PREVIOUS ELECTED OFFICE: Four years on board of education
GOALS: Continue positive working relationship and open communication between the board and superintendent, and treasurer and the public; provide a safe work environment for students and staff; efficient use of the high school building and addressing needs when necessary; continue to develop new career path programs and experiences for students; and make sure district remains responsible with spending funds.
Nick Lawrence
PREVIOUS ELECTED OFFICE: none
GOALS: Continue the momentum of the board working with the school administration in moving the district forward and supporting the needs of the students and staff; keep transparency with the taxpayers on decisions and actions of the board and school district; continue to maintain the high school building and addressing issues where needed; and monitor state school funding to make sure district has the needed funds to provide services for the students.
Danielle Scherer
PREVIOUS ELECTED OFFICE: Four years on the board of education
GOALS: Continue to provide transparency and information to the public to make sure people are informed on what is happening in schools; continue to maintain the high school building and address issues where needed; get the public more involved with school events; monitor school funding from the state since money is an ongoing issue for all schools; and work to do what is best for all students and providing “real life” class opportunities..
