The board:
• Were updated on work at the Tomaski Center off North Road, Niles. Plans are being made to have a public open house when completed.
The board in the spring approved entering into an agreement with Building Technologies Inc. at $1,204,300 for the Fairhaven School roof replacement and Ohio Desk at $164,712 to purchase furniture and equipment for an administrative offices renovation project at the Tomaski Center. The $1.2 million project involves gutting the existing building and constructing a new corporate-style interior.
Baker, Bednar, Snyder and Associates are providing architectural and engineering design services for the renovation. United Contractors of Brookfield is doing the project work at $1.19 million.
• Hired Theresa Worona as a preschool teacher to fill a vacancy, effective Aug. 14; Taylor Baer as a speech language therapist, effective Aug. 14; and JoNae Coleman, Chalsie Riggleman, Donald Streamo and Destiny Morgan as nine-month bus aides.
• Accepted the retirement of Sue Mills as a classroom assistant, effective July 31. She has been an employee since January 2002.
• Accepted resignation of Sandra Kernan as principal, effective Aug. 4. She has been an employee since November 2014.
• Announced the Fairhaven Foundation is planning a gala for Oct.17
