WHAT: Village council meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Howard Sheely, Robert Bond, Lamar Liming, Jessica Blank, Jamie Moseley, Ernie Bowen and Mayor Jackie Woodward

Council:

• Approved the purchase of an ambulance at a cost not to exceed $439,139 through the Ohio cooperative purchasing program from Myers Equipment Inc. in Canfield. American Rescue Plan funds will be used for the purchase.

• Heard from Village Engineer Chris Kogelnik the Ohio Public Works Commission application has been submitted for the Lyntz Road resurfacing project.

• Entered into an application hosting agreement with Sundance Systems Inc. for the police department at $28,700 for three years. The company will provide hosting software applications and storage of data services.

• Heard from Woodward that Girl Scout Sophia Dye completed a community food pantry box by the historical society building off Salt Springs Road for the public to take nonperishables and hygiene items and also to bring items to help others.

• Heard from police Chief Brent Milhoan there has been recent overtime in the police department because of vacations and personal days taken in the summer by officers and also because the department has had one less dispatcher.

• Hired Jacob Gearhart as a part-time water and sewer employee.

• Heard from residents that police officers should be allowed to work off-duty jobs since the pay for officers in the village is not as high as other communities. Residents said police are allowed to do this in other communities.

• Approved an agreement with Trumbull County engineer’s office to purchase 2,800 tons of salt at $48.99 per ton for the 2025-26 winter season.

• Announced a mobile food market will be 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the village administration building parking lot.

• Set trick or treat 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 and Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m. Nov. 21 by the fire department.
